Many investigators believe orbs to be evidence of paranormal activity or even entities themselves.

A poltergeist is a noisy spirit that makes its presence known primarily by way of sound. Physical manifestations may follow, beginning as scratching noises from within the walls and escalating to more frequent banging or thumping sounds. Objects may also at this time be moved.

1.       A ghostly figure; a specter.

2.       A sudden or unusual sight.

3.       The act of appearing; appearance

Shadow people are a type of apparition. They are often described as Black Silhouettes, usually without any details. Their movements are often reported as being very jiggly and abnormal, or extremely slow moving.

1.    The spirit of a dead person, especially one believed to appear in bodily likeness to the living to living persons or to haunt former habitations.

2.       The center of spiritual life; the soul.

3.       A demon or spirit

Residual hauntings are playbacks of past events. The apparitions involved may not even be actual spirits but just impressions or recordings of events that were so traumatic that they have become imprinted on the very space in which they occurred.

Psychic Abilities

"Mental mediumship" is communication of spirits with a medium by telepathy. The medium mentally "hears" (clairaudience), "sees" (clairvoyance), and/or feels (clairsentience) messages from spirits. Directly or with the help of a spirit guide, the medium passes the information on to the message's recipient(s). This is the type of medium that is with DarkHour Paranormal Society.

·         Clairvoyance or "Clear Seeing", is the ability to see anything that is not physically present, such as objects, animals or people. This sight occurs "in the mind’s eye". Some mediums say that this is their normal vision state. Others say that they must train their minds with such practices as meditation in order to achieve this ability, and that assistance from spiritual helpers is often necessary. Some clairvoyant mediums can see a spirit as though the spirit has a physical body. They see the bodily form as if it were physically present. Other mediums see the spirit in their mind's eye, or it appears as a movie or a television program or a still picture like a photograph in their mind.

·         Clairaudience or "Clear Hearing", is usually defined as the ability to hear the voices or thoughts of spirits. Some Mediums hear as though they are listening to a person talking to them on the outside of their head, as though the Spirit is next to or near to the medium, and other mediums hear the voices in their minds as a verbal thought.

·         Clairsentience or "Clear Sensing", is the ability to have an impression of what a spirit wants to communicate, or to feel sensations instilled by a spirit.

·         Clairsentinence or "Clear Feeling" is a condition in which the medium takes on the ailments of a spirit, feeling the same physical problem which the spirit person had before death

·         Claircognizance or "Clear Knowing", is the ability to know something without receiving it through normal or psychic senses. It is a feeling of "just knowing". Often, a medium will claim to have the feeling that a message or situation is "right" or "wrong."

  • The various types of psychic powers include:

AUTOMATIC WRITING – the ability to write messages of wisdom and guidance from a higher realm of consciousness that is transcribed directly in writing (either handwritten or typed), which does not originate from the conscious mind; channeling in written form.

CLAIRAUDIENCE – the ability to hear messages from higher guidance - these messages can be heard through the ears, or internally in the mind (which is a form of Telepathy).

CLAIRSENTIENCE - the ability to pick up energies and emotions from people, places or things, often called empathy. A clairsentient person is often referred to as an empath.

CLAIRVOYANCE - a French word meaning “clear seeing” which refers to the ability to see visions, to receive visual images and impressions, often seen through the "mind's eye" or "third eye".

PENDULUM is an excellent tool to help someone access his/her own intuition in a way that can be clearly seen and felt.

ESP – stands for extra-sensory perception, referring to the ability to receive information beyond the five known senses, but actually involves using the five senses in a heightened way in combination with the sixth sense of intuition. It is a common term for psychic powers of all kinds.

INTUITIVE – someone who is able to access higher guidance and information through the use of a highly developed intuition.

SCRYING – the ability to see images, usually in shiny surfaces, like a crystal ball, a mirror, a black mirror, or even a bowl of water.

TELEPATHY - mind to mind communication, also known as "mind reading".

TRANCE CHANNEL – a person who goes into an altered state of deep trance and allows another entity to speak through them, presumably an entity who is more highly evolved.

Intuition is called the sixth sense because it is inherent in everyone. We each have intuitive abilities, just as everyone has artistic or athletic abilities to greater or lesser degrees. Everyone can draw a picture or throw a ball, but some people are naturally more gifted in these areas, and once they hone and develop these gifts, they can become professional artists or athletes. The same is true of intuition - some people are naturally gifted intuitively, and once they focus and develop these gifts, they can become professional psychics. Just as everyone can become a better artist or athlete through training and practice, you can develop and improve your natural ability to benefit from your intuition and psychic powers.

Electronic voice phenomena are electronically captured sounds that resemble speech, but are not the result of intentional voice recordings. Common sources include static, stray radio transmissions and background noise. Some people claim these sounds are of paranormal origin, while there are natural explanations such as apophenia (finding significance in insignificant phenomena), auditory pareidolia (interpreting random sounds as voices in their own language), equipment artifacts, or simple hoaxes. Recordings of electronic voice phenomena are often created from background sound by increasing the gain (i.e. sensitivity) of the recording equipment. EVPS are believed to be the voices of the dead. Using a simple digital recorder, one may get an EVP.

Ghosts who have not crossed over, have unfinished business, or are too emotionally attached to a person and/or place is classified as an intelligent haunting. They linger for a reason. They are trying to get your attention. These entities can interact with people sometimes do so. These apparitions have a mission to complete and they are looking for assistance. If the ghost is trying to communicate and interacting, it is most definitely an intelligent haunting.
